Alice Odabashian is a graduate of the Gevorgian Seminary of Ejmiatsin and subsequently of the Nersisian School of Tbilisi. She taught in Yerevan and later in Moscow for fifteen years. After a temporary stay in Constantinople, the Odabashians settled permanently in Bulgaria, where she attended girls the prestigious Boluglasicheska Gymnasium in Plovdiv. She began her literary career by translating a total of 36 pieces of poetry and religious articles published in the paper Jrag for the Bulgarian Evangelical paper Zornitsa . Her other translations include an anthology of poetry by the prominent Armenian poet, Silva Kaputikian (1981). Alice Odabashian came to the United States, settling in Philadelphia. She taught herself English and found that writing in this new language gave her great pleasure. She has published a collection of her own poems entitled Songs for You. |
