 | Arto der Haroutunian was born in Aleppo, Syria where his family had sought shelter after the massacre of the Armenian nation by the Turks in 1915. Educated in Britain he is a qualified architect, and a noted restauranteur. He has written several cookery books. Arto der Haroutunian is also a painter of international reputation with scores of exhibitions and many works in major collections. In 1978 he visited for the first time the land of his fathers - Armenia – and the poems in this collection were mostly written during and immediately after that visit. |
