 | Vrej Nersessian was born in Tehran in 1948. He was educated in Calcutta at the Armenian College, from 1958 to 1965. He then went to Etchmiadzin, the Theological Seminary, where he stayed until 1968, and then continued his education at King's College, University of London, from which he graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Divinity (Hon). His thesis for the Ph.D. at King's College was on the Tondrakian movement. Dr. V. Nersessian is the Curator in charge of manuscripts and printed books of the Christian Middle East, Oriental Collections, The British Library. He has been in charge of the Armenian collections in the British Library since 1975. His works include: An Index of Articles on Armenian Studies in Western Journals (London, 1975), Catalogue of Early Armenian Books 1512-1850 (History of Armenian Printing), the British Library (1980), New Testament Studies (Beirut, 1981) (in Armenian), as well as The Christological Position of the Armenian Church and The Life and Work of Nerses Shnorhali in Die Kirche Armeniens, F. Heyer, ed., (Stuttgart, 1978), Armenian Uncatalogued Manuscripts in the United Kingdom Institutions, Banber Matenadarani 13 (1980), Armenian Illuminated Gospel-Books (The British Library, 1987).
