Hay Guin Society

On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of its foundation, the "Hai Guin" Society of Tehran organized a pageant of Armenian women's historical costumes. This was in the Spring of 1974, the exhibition scheduled to run for one week. Upon request it was repeated several times, the pageant creating wide interest in Iran and, via the press, tliroughout the Armenian Diasphora. The visit and attention of Iran's devoted and art-loving Empress, Her Imperial Majesty, Shahbanou Farah Pahlavi, as well as the encouragement of Armenian and other artists, and the urging of the very many people who attended the show, gave us the courage to publish an album of the costumes exhibited. We have no pretence of presenting a faultless volume, but sincerely hope our modest effort will serve its purpose, becoming an element of continuity and expressing an aspect of Armenian culture for whose service the "Hai Guin" Society has been created.
