Publisher's Foreword

When historiography departs from chronicling in terms of battles and periods in between in a dry fashion burdening the reader, and reconstructs history in a lively style as a dynamic human experience, it becomes instructive in an engaging manner.
The Central Education Committee of the Armenian General Benevolent Union was looking for such a book on Armenian History for youth in Armenian schools and outside. It was a happy coincidence indeed when Mr. Puzant Yeghiayan, uninformed of our search, brought to our attention his manuscript of "HEROES OF HAYASTAN".
We found, to our delight, that this venerable scholar was presenting a comprehensive picture of Armenian heroes and events through centuries in an engaging human drama. Mr. Yeghiayan's work is buttressed by careful use of an array of Armenian and non-Armenian primary sources mostly to weave the ethos of Armenian history from its dawn to the present.
The Armenian General Benevolent Union's Central Education Committee is grateful for this scholarly labor and happy to make it available to the public.
